THE SECOND OF ONLY TWO COBALT BLUE, factory built bristol channel cutters
Whitewings III is hull number 118. She was built in 2001 and first sailed the Spring of 2002. She is the last "Dick and Tommy" boat. While the yard continued to produce elegant boats under the guidance of Tommy, Dick added a special touch to many BCC28's when he was the head shipwright. She is one of the last of a dying breed. A wonderful, world cruiser with no compromise on materials or quality of construction. Lyle Hess, Sam Morse, and the boys in the yard gave the world a boat that is easy to sail, seakindly underway, remarkably well thought out, and capable of standing up to anything the seas may throw at her. Having been through a number of Great Lakes storms, we never felt for a moment that Whitewings wouldn't bring us safely out the other side.
Sailed exclusively in fresh water since original launch, Whitewings III has averaged 800-1000 nuatical miles per season in Lakes Michigan and Huron.
She has been well loved and obsessively maintained by her owners (one is a former race car mechanic) Sadly, it is time for the crew to hang up their gloves and become landlubbers again so we are offering Whitewings III, for sale to a good home.
